Questions About Me:
1. How old are you?
19 years old :)
2. Do you work?
Only during winter and summer breaks when I’m home from school. I work at Stop and Shop, a few summer camps, and I volunteer at my church and at more summer camps
3. What’s your major?
I’m majoring in Special Education and Liberal Studies with a concentration in Psychology (which I don’t really know why because I hate psychology…) and I’m minoring in Music.
Questions About Nails:
1. What’s your favorite top coat?
I always use NYC: In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry, because I’m very impatient and want everything to dry veryyyyy quickly.
2. What’s your favorite base coat?
I use Finger Paints Base Coat or Barielle Nail Rebuilding Protein when my nails get all peely.
3. How do I get glitter off of my nails?
Glitter is my favorite thing to put on my nails, but it is SUCH a pain to get off. I usually just take a cotton pad, throw some nail polish remover (preferably with acetone) on it, then wrap it around my nail and tape it. After a few minutes you can take it off and the glitter will come off easily. Another option is to take a cotton ball or a cotton pad, wrap it around ur nail, and then wrap your nail in foil for a few minutes. Both have worked for me :)
4. How do I prevent my nails from peeling?
This is always a huge problem for me, but I’ve learned that as long as you always have a base coat on your nails, even when you don’t have any colored polish, that makes them less likely to peel. Using protein building base coats or strengthening nail polish remover also helps :)
5. How do I make my manicure last longer?
Always seal your tips and add a new top coat every day or every other day
6. Does nail polish go bad?
Not it does not, however as it gets older it can get goopy and clumpy and whatnot, so when this happens just throw in some nail polish thinner.
7. How do I keep my nails and cuticles from drying out?
Nails can dry out very easily, especially when using pure acetone on them. To prevent this just use nail renewal oil (I use Barielle Intensive Nail Renewal Oil, but I’m sure any kind will get the job done.) Just brush it onto your nails if you aren’t putting polish on it for the day, and brush it onto your cuticles once you are finished with a manicure.
8. What are you favorites polish brands?
I love NYC Quick Dry (because, as implied, it dries quickly), OPI (because it has a great formula and great colors), Essie (okay well the formula sucks, but the colors are beautiful) and Sinful Colors (because they’re veryyy inexpensive and I’m a poor college kid).
9. Is acetone bad for your nails? Do you use it?
Acetone can dry out your nails and it’s very important not to use too much of it on your nails, however since I’ve learned of it’s existence it’s been my new best friend. It’s great for removing excess nail polish off your cuticles after a manicure and for getting tough nail polish off. As long as you don’t use it excessively and use some sort of renewal oil or cuticle moisturizing cream afterwards, you’re nails should be fine :)
10. Where do you buy your nail polish?
I usually buy my nail polish in the clearance sections of stores like CVS, Walmart, or Ocean State Job Lot (I know, super professional) or on amazon.com (even though paying for shipping stinks).
11. What supplies do you use for nail art and where do you get them?
I usually buy things like nail buffers or brushes or dotting tools at Sally’s Beauty Supply or Amazon.com. I use a lot of nail brushes (like Sable Nail Art Brushes, or Debora Lynn Nail Brushes) and dotting tools.
